The Other Art Fair Global Virtual Editions

In March 2020 I was due to go to Sydney to exhibit @theotherartfair for the first time. After months of preparation and planning, I was devastated when the fair was postponed due to the global pandemic. While we wait impatiently in Melbourne and Sydney for the imminent return of live events, I am beyond excited to be exhibiting in The Other Art Fair’s Global Virtual Editions in November.

200 independent artists from around the world have been selected to exhibit at the fair, curated by the Fair Team and @saatchiart curators.

In this final week of the show, the feature is on The cutaway room, a virtual replica of the unique cultural venue at Barangaroo in Sydney where the live fair is usually held.

To take a tour of my virtual stand, and those of 50 other global artists you can click on the link below:

Artwork & Interiors with The Stables

the first time I came across @thestables and scrolled through an endless series of beautiful images on their instagram account I was smitten. I love their minimalist, timeless interiors and neutral colour palettes, highlighted by touches of nature and coastal references. not surprisingly, I was thrilled when Catherine first approached me a few years back to order some artwork for a client project she was working on. seeing my work end up in the stunning spaces that Catherine and her team create brings me so much joy. I am looking forward to our continued collaboration and can’t wait to see what the stables produce next..

the stables

‘the stables are a boutique interior styling company based in Sydney, working closely with individuals and businesses to create simple, timeless and unique design solutions that are both beautiful and functional.’

Projects

Caringbah & little bells

‘Our lovely client had three areas she wanted us to focus on, the laundry, master bedroom and the home office. The brief for the master bedroom was to create somewhere for the clients to retreat to, somewhere calm and relaxing and this is something that was certainly achieved with the upholstered bed head, the sheer curtains and the soft muted colour palette. The gorgeous artwork at the base of the bed is certainly a focal point of this room and adds a little bit of vibrancy.’

Burraneer & Fairhaven II

‘Burraneer was a complete renovation of a beautiful family home nestled among the bays of the Sutherland Shire. Working alongside Ben Richardson Building, the most premium builder in The Shire, we worked over an almost twelve month period to completely transform both the interior and exterior. We worked within the existing floor plan and renovated the kitchen, two bathrooms, added a stone clad fire place and custom joinery through out and to finish it off furnished the home from top to bottom. The brief was Hamptons with a contemporary coastal feel, one of our favourites to date!’

Adventures in Singapore

I have just returned home from a truly unforgettable week in Singapore!  While visiting a dear friend, I was fortunate to attend a wonderful fundraising lunch that was organised by a hardworking and talented team of expats.  The chosen charity for the event was the National Breast Cancer Foundation Australia.  It was an honour to have one of my prints auctioned on the day to raise much needed funds for this important cause that is close to many of our hearts.  Surrounded by so many friendly and generous women, it really was a day to remember.

One of the highlights of the trip was visiting the Singapore Botanic Gardens, including the breathtaking National Orchid Garden. I was overwhelmed at the pristine nature of the gardens, and the sheer number of perfectly formed orchids. I visited two days in a row with my camera, hoping to capture something special to add to my floral collection.

I am also delighted to announce that I will now be stocking a selection of my prints in Singapore!  I first met Rima, the gorgeous and delightfully friendly owner of @shivadesignsbespoke at my studio in Mornington.  In Singapore we reconnected when I dropped in to visit her unique store.  Shiva Designs is an inspiring place to shop for beautiful, handcrafted, design led homewares, jewellery and gifts.  Items are personally selected, with an emphasis on quality, design, craftsmanship and style. Rima has brought together a carefully curated range of products, and promotes artists from around the world creating beautiful handmade works of art, furniture and accessories.

I am so excited to have my prints available in-store alongside many other Australian artists and creatives from around the globe x

Little Bells & Dunne Interiors

I am constantly amazed at the level of creative talent on the Peninsula.  One of the highlights of working in this local community is seeing people coming together to combine these talents.

Samantha Dunne, founder and interior designer @dunne.interiors recently worked with a number of local creatives and products on a shoot for her new website.  The result is a series of stunning images that showcase her eye for understated & timeless design.

I was so thrilled to see Little Bells in this collection of furniture and homewares.  One of my favourite images, this was originally shot in collaboration with @poppyculture_hq, whose stunning floral work was used during the shoot.  Seeing my print here alongside these beautiful fresh blooms feels like the creative process has come full circle.

You can find Sam on the Mornington Peninsula where she works alongside her husband, builder and director at Dunne Constructions. Together they provide a full service interior design and construction service, specialising in residential renovations and additions on the Mornington Peninsula and Bayside areas.

The Designory & The Bay Cottage at Barefoot Escapes

Having my artwork chosen to compliment or complete a space gives me such a thrill, and a feeling of excitement and gratitude that I am sure will never wane.

Earlier this year, I was contacted by the team @thedesignory about using my print The Pass in their exciting new project in Byron Bay. They were designing and renovating The Bay Cottage, a boutique luxury holiday home for @barefootescapes.

After a few short months, the project is complete and the end result is absolutely stunning. So happy to see one of my favourite prints showcased in this gorgeous property, which is now available to book via the @barefootescapes website or Airbnb.

One look and you will want to head there now. ..

About the project:

The Barefoot Bay Cottage is a stunning newly renovated, design led three bedroom cottage with a distinctly luxe Australian coastal style paired with that quintessential relaxed Byron chic.  The lush tropical gardens, sparkling plunge pool and decks surrounding the property create a true hideaway with all the luxuries of home.

An Organic Pairing

I was fortunate to meet Mel Lechte, founder & director of @organic.crew back in December at a local design market. I was admiring the beautiful range of clothing at her stand and we got chatting, both about her brand, and my photography. It turns out we both share a similar aesthetic when it comes to our work, and an appreciation for things natural & organic.

It will come as no surprise that I was thrilled when Mel told me that she would like to have my work in her first concept store, and came to visit me at the studio to choose the right pieces for the space.

I stopped by to visit the new store recently, taking a few photos, and trying not to buy one of everything on the way out!

Congratulations Mel, the store looks stunning and I am so happy to be a part of this new chapter x

Poppyculture – A Dream Collaboration

I have been fortunate to spend a couple of days out on location with the team, watching as they transform already beautiful venues into a floral wonderland.

One of the highlights of working in Mornington’s art & design hub is having the opportunity to meet so many of the talented creatives on the Peninsula.  Over the past year I have been very lucky to meet and get to know the gorgeous Lauren Blundell from @poppyculture.  Lauren and her team create the most stunning floral designs for weddings and events, and I was inspired to photograph some of their work.

I have been fortunate to spend a couple of days out on location with the team, watching as they transform already beautiful venues into a floral wonderland.

Over time I plan to release a series of limited edition prints, the first of which will be available to order in November.

Super excited to be collaborating with this clever crew, and about what is to come..

One Year - The Nook Gallery & Studios

When Studio 1A became available I moved next door, and now I have a place where people can drop in for a chat and see my work on display.

Tash-0032.jpg

Up until last year, I had been working from my study at home.  While it does have its perks (like staying in your ugg boots over winter!), I think I was going a little stir crazy.  Over time, my space filled up with boxes, files, postal tubes, bubble wrap, large frames.. you get the picture.  For my sanity and work flow, it was time to move on.

Finding somewhere local with a sense of community was key.

Fast forward to August 2017 and I am celebrating one year at The Nook! Starting off in the co-working studio, I loved working alongside other creatives like @lovecarli, but I soon realised that I needed more space.  When Studio 1A became available I moved next door, and now I have a place where people can drop in for a chat and see my work on display.

It has been such a great move, and it’s hard to imagine how different things would have been had I stayed working from home.  I am always inspired and energised by the beautiful people here who never hesitate to share their knowledge or lend me a hand. I am also incredibly grateful for the staff next-door @commonfolk, for their friendly, smiling faces, and steady stream of caffeine.

Here’s to more good times ahead..

Regeneration - An exhibition

Bringing to life a long held dream of mine, this was an opportunity to showcase my recent work and officially launch my fine art print collection.

Having moved into The Nook Gallery & Studios in August, it was clear that it was going to be the perfect space to hold my first exhibition.  Bringing to life a long held dream of mine, this was an opportunity to showcase my recent work and officially launch my fine art print collection.  Many weeks were spent planning, designing invitations, sourcing sponsors, food and drinks, printing, framing, and finally, hanging the artwork.

The name Regeneration represented not only my black & white series from after the 2009 fires in Marysville, but also the recurring theme across my images of the ocean, and the continual process of renewal, restoration and growth in the natural world.

despite the nerves, it was so exciting to see everything come together, and to celebrate on opening night with many close friends and family members.
